Solar ROI calculator for Pakistan

Use this calculator to estimate solar payback and long-term savings before buying a system. Enter your system size and quotation price, then adjust electricity value, self-consumption, solar export credit, maintenance and panel degradation.

Why self-consumption matters

A unit of solar electricity used directly in your home can offset a unit you would otherwise buy at your effective electricity rate. Exported units may be credited at a different rate. Because these values can be far apart, the share of solar you use during the day can strongly change payback time.

What the ROI result includes

The estimate uses solar size, peak sun hours and a performance factor to estimate annual generation. It values self-used and exported energy separately, subtracts annual maintenance, applies yearly generation degradation and then checks when cumulative savings recover the initial cost.

Which solar export rate should you use?

For new or renewed arrangements under the 2026 Prosumer Regulations, exported electricity is billed at the national average energy purchase price. Valid agreements made under the repealed 2015 net-metering rules are treated differently until the agreement term expires. Use the option that matches your agreement and confirm the current rate on official NEPRA documents or your bill.

Important limitation

This is a planning calculator, not a guaranteed return. Electricity tariffs, export rates, taxes, equipment replacement, financing, shading and actual generation can change the result. Confirm current billing rules with NEPRA and your electricity supplier. If you have not selected a system capacity yet, start with the guide to choosing a solar kW size before estimating payback.
