How this income tax calculator Pakistan works

Suppose your monthly taxable salary is Rs. 200,000. The calculator first converts that to Rs. 2.4 million a year. For 2026-27, this falls inside the Rs. 2.2 million to Rs. 3.2 million band. The formula is Rs. 116,000 plus 20% of the amount above Rs. 2.2 million. That produces Rs. 156,000 annual tax, or Rs. 13,000 per month.

The calculator then subtracts the estimated monthly tax from monthly gross salary to show a simple salary-after-tax figure. This is not a full payroll calculator, so provident fund, EOBI, loans, insurance, employer adjustments and other deductions are not included.

Tax card 2025-26 vs tax slab 2025-26

People often use “tax card” and “tax slab” for the same practical purpose. A tax slab tells you the income bands and formulas. The FBR withholding tax rate card brings official withholding rates together in a reference document. On this page, the 2025-26 table gives you the salary slab in an easy format, while the FBR source link lets you check the official tax card.

Budget 2022-23 Pakistan salary tax

The calculator also keeps a historical 2022-23 option for users checking an old payslip, salary package or tax calculation. Select 2022-23 · Tax Year 2023 from the dropdown. Historical rules are kept separate from current rules so an old budget calculation does not get mixed with the 2026-27 salary tax slab.

Who should use this salary tax calculator?

This tool is built for salaried individuals who want a quick estimate before checking payroll, comparing a job offer or planning monthly expenses. The salaried schedule applies where salary income falls within the relevant salaried-person rules. If your income mainly comes from business, freelancing, property, investments or other sources, a different tax calculation may apply.

Frequently asked questions

What is the tax-free salary limit in Pakistan for 2026-27?

Annual taxable salary up to Rs. 600,000 is in the 0% slab. That is equal to Rs. 50,000 per month if salary is your only taxable amount used in this simple calculation.

Can I use this as a salary tax calculator 2025-26?

Yes. Choose 2025-26 from the dropdown. The calculator switches to Tax Year 2026 rates and includes the 9% salary surcharge when taxable income exceeds Rs. 10 million.

Is this also an income tax calculator?

It is an income tax calculator for salary income. It is not designed to calculate every type of Pakistan income tax. For IT and ITeS export proceeds, use the FBR IT Export Tax Calculator.

Why is monthly tax not simply one tax percentage?

Pakistan salary tax is progressive. Your annual taxable salary can pass through several bands, with each formula carrying a fixed amount from lower bands plus a percentage of income above the current threshold.

Does this page replace FBR or professional tax advice?

No. It is an informational calculator and guide. Final payroll withholding, tax returns, exemptions, credits and special cases should be checked against the latest FBR rules or with a qualified professional.

Salary tax example: Rs 150,000 per month in 2026-27

For a person with a constant taxable salary of Rs 150,000 per month, the annual salary is Rs 1,800,000. Under the calculator's 2026-27 salaried-person slabs, estimated annual tax is Rs 72,000: Rs 6,000 on the earlier band plus 11% of the Rs 600,000 exceeding Rs 1,200,000. That is approximately Rs 6,000 monthly tax and Rs 144,000 monthly salary after this income-tax estimate.

This is an illustration of annualized slab calculations, not a personal payroll assessment. Taxable benefits, allowable adjustments, other income, changes in salary during the year or employer withholding practices can change the amount on a payslip.

Which Pakistan tax year should you select?

Tax Year 2027 corresponds to the July 2026–June 2027 financial year, while Tax Year 2026 corresponds to July 2025–June 2026. Select the year for which the salary was earned; do not apply current slabs retroactively to last year's pay. The calculator provides historical years so you can compare them, but official assessments should follow the applicable legislation and tax filing instructions.

What this FBR salary tax estimate does not include

The calculator focuses on annual salaried-income slab tax. It does not automatically work out every exemption, salary benefit, credit, deduction, adjustment, employer-specific withholding schedule or treatment of mixed employment and business income. Nor does it replace an actual tax return. Confirm exceptional situations using the FBR rate cards and professional advice where necessary.

Why does my payslip deduction differ from the calculator?

An employer may account for earlier months' withholding, bonuses, taxable allowances, salary changes or year-end adjustments. Compare the same annual taxable salary basis, not just the latest month's gross pay, before assuming the deduction is wrong.
